A Sliding Scale Tool I’ve Been Working On.

Over the past few years, I’ve found myself having the same quiet conversation again and again.

“How do I choose the right tier on a sliding scale?”
“What if I pick wrong?”
“What if people underpay, or feel judged, or feel like they’re getting charity?”

I know I’m not alone in wanting sliding scale pricing to feel clearer, kinder, and genuinely sustainable for everyone. So, as a little side project, I built this tool. It’s a tool to help folks figure out which tier makes sense for them, based on a few honest questions about income, responsibilities, and hidden privileges.

*Note: The tiers showed are examples, and not suggestive tiers.

Why I Made This

Sliding scale is a practice I believe in deeply: it’s not charity. It’s a commitment to collective care and shared responsibility. But it only works when we have the language (and tools) to back it up.

This is my tiny way of offering that.
It’s imperfect, but it’s a start.

Want to Test This Out With Me?

I don’t want this to live in a vacuum. I’d love to gather a small working group: community members, facilitators, or small business owners who already have sliding scale in place to test this, poke holes in it, see what works, and what feels awkward.

If you’d like to be part of this, here’s what you can do:

1) Try the tool here and see how it feels.
2) Hit reply and tell me what worked, what didn’t, and what you wish it did.
3) Let me know if you’d like to join a small group chat or Zoom to talk through ideas.

I believe we can make this better, together.

Here’s to more trust, less guessing, and a little more ease around money. Check out the tool here and let me know what you think.
