Dewi Chen

Dewi is a doula, bodyworker and yoga teacher based in Singapore. Her motherhood journey led her to establish Terra Luna Yoga, Singapore’s first women-focused and trauma-aware yoga studio. It was born out of necessity—because too many studios saw yoga only as fitness, or worse, just as business.

Since then, Dewi has been training new yoga teachers, expanding into perinatal care, and offering bodywork and doula support.

Now she supports movement teachers (through her work at Centred Space), curious learners, the perinatal community, and those navigating pain and postpartum care, because she has walked these paths herself

Project Goals

Dewi is a doula, bodyworker and yoga teacher who has shared her work in separate places. After many years of having different websites for different “hats” she wears, she is ready for a website that:

  • Brings together all the “hats” into one website.

  • Integrates the personal and professional.

  • Attract folks with the same values as her.

The “Before”

FROM DEWI

“A little lost and fazed by all the mixed messages out there about being more personal VS. more business-like in your approach.”

Colors and Fonts

I chose a warm, earthy color palette to reflect the depth, warmth, and directness of Dewi’s energy, while echoing the softness, agency, and care at the heart of her practice. This combination of yellow, brown, green and cream stands for healing warmth and vitality. To create a grounded yet inviting look that matches Dewi’s holistic, nurturing approach to yoga, birthwork, and bodywork, I used P22 Mackinac Pro for headings and Source Sans Pro for body text.

The generosity of listening to me talk endlessly about my life! I really enjoyed having the deeper conversations which I know worked its way into both the design and copy of the site. That said, these conversations were skilfully facilitated with outcomes in mind, which was clearly mapped out at the beginning of the workplan.

Logos and BrandMark

At first glance, it begins with the letter D, a nod to her name. But there’s more under the surface. The negative space within the mark traces a path between her three core offerings: yoga, bodywork, and birthwork. That pathway reflects the deeper connection between these practices—not as separate identities, but as parts of a whole.

The filled-in forms hold weight and presence, grounding the movement of the throughline. They speak to the structure, training, and lineage Dewi carries—while the open spaces leave room for softness, intuition, and what continues to evolve.

Altogether, it’s a mark that holds both clarity and openness. A quiet symbol of the many versions of self that Dewi integrates in her work—and the spaciousness she offers others to do the same.

Photography

Dewi described her brand personality as approachable, educational and a multi-hyphenate with firm beliefs which I used to set the direction for the photography professionally taken by Widya. Dewi and I also worked together to ensure that her photography was consistent with our shared value of fostering authenticity. We selected photos that accurately and realistically reflected Dewi’s clients.

To someone who is considering taking a leap into the unknown, I can assure you that your fears and anxieties will be held like a close friend during your time with R. Her ability to sit with your challenges and make beauty out of said challenges is a gift that I have not seen in many people, and definitely not so in website designers.

Website

I brought together the colors, fonts, logos, stock photos and copy to create a website that lead Dewi’s clients through the threads of her philsophy. By building a clear path from learning about her philosophy and her pathways, to submitting an inquiry with her, I ensured that the website encouraged curious learned to get in touch with Dewi.

The completed website is made up of 3 main elements:

  1. Core Pages: Homepage, About Page, Contact Page

  2. Services Page for the three pathways of Dewi’s offerings.

  3. Blog with Dewi’s orginal articles that digs deeper into her philosophy.
