IN THIS LESSON

Your website needs a domain (yourwebsitename.com) so people can find you online. With a Squarespace site, you can replace your built-in Squarespace domain (yourdomain.squarespace.com) with a custom domain. Custom domains give your site a professional look, strengthen your brand, and make it less of a hassle for visitors to find your website.

  1. Log into Squarespace and open your site.

  2. Go to Settings → Domains.

  3. You’ll see two options:

    • Buy a new domain directly from Squarespace.

    • Connect a domain you already own (from Google, GoDaddy, etc.).

  4. If you’re connecting an existing domain, follow the prompts to update your DNS settings with your domain provider. Squarespace gives you exact records to copy over.

  5. Once connected, set it as your Primary Domain so visitors always land on the right address.

It may take up to 24–72 hours for the domain to fully connect across the internet. After that, your site is live at your custom web address!
